Are you looking to freshen up your marketing for 2022 or want to help your customers get the most bang for their buck on their imprint? Here are five design trends for 2022 that will help set you and them apart.
1. I Love The ‘90s
Like with fashion, trends from the 1990s have been making their way back into Graphic Design. Think pops of color, fun/simple shapes, and an overall playful look. This is perfect for embellishing imprints or making your flyers and social posts pop.
2. Take It To The Max
Maximalism is a great way to add interest to an imprint and make the piece even more memorable. It really utilizes all of the available imprint area.
As for your flyer designs, I would avoid the "overloaded" feel of Maximalism and try its other aspects, such as monochromatic colors, patterns, or overlapping to provide the effect.
3. A - Z
Typography is always a great way to add interest to your designs but 2022 will see it get pushed even further. Don’t be afraid to work with mismatched lettering and coloring, but if it’s for your flyer remember to keep it legible. Read my Typography Basics article for some tips.
4. Move It Or Lose It
Motion grabs our attention more than a static image or graphic. And in a sea of content every day, you want to stand out. This can be achieved with GIFs, short video clips, or QR Codes (makes the piece interactive).
5. Flatten It Out
This trend has it's roots in Japanese Ukiyo-e, a type of art with limited perspective. Have fun with vector art that lacks shadow (or has minimal shadow) allowing it to play with the sense of space.
It’s always fun to play around with trends, but first and foremost, make sure you know the basics of design before you try to break the rules. You can read my blog recap, 7 Design Tips To Better Market Yourself, to learn some of the basics.
See you in 2022!
