Is the Story You Tell, the Story You Live?

To live an authentic life story you need to know what you stand for

8/15/2018 | Paul Kiewiet, Pursuit of Purpose

Successful people don’t feel the need to compete. They know that they need to live authentically, mindfully, and purposefully and success will come to them. When you can live your life in that way, you don’t have to think in terms of your professional versus your personal life. Your life story unfolds.

Living your story means you know who you are and you’re not afraid to show it and share it. To live an authentic life story you need to know what you stand for. There’s an old saying, “if you don’t know what you stand for, you’ll fall for anything.”

Do you know where you’re going and why you’re going there? Both parts of that equation are important and should be reviewed regularly. As the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland says, “If you don’t know where you’re going, it doesn’t really matter which way you go”

You get to write your story. Every.Single.Chapter. If you don’t like where the story is, change where it’s going. What will make your career, your life, your company great?

Put together your story and be able to articulate it, live it and lead with it. You’ll live a life and do work that you’re proud of and create the future you want to see.

The man who created the world’s first Trillion Dollar Market Value Company - Steve Jobs of Apple said, “The most powerful person in the world is the storyteller.”

Storytelling has been used since the dawn of man to motivate, change, challenge, spread love, and connect people. What’s your story?
