Interstate 40 East from Nashville, TN rewards the driver with a gorgeous hours-long, mountain-side journey through a massive range of trees. My late-October 2016 trip on that stretch of road provided a magical sweep of Fall; reds, yellows, and golds, highlighted by fast-passing clouds creating alternating moments of brilliance and shade against those colors. It was an ever-changing story evolving on the countryside alongside me, a story instilling in me a sense of confidence about the journey that I was on, both personally and professionally was the one meant for me specifically at that moment. Like I was meant to be there.
This weekend past marked a year since I took that journey. What a year it's been.
This year has been marked by moments. Moments so frequent they risk being lost in the entirety as a result, were it not for the genuine memorability of each moment. What mustn't be lost is the way these moments have reshaped much of the way I look at (and go about) life.
While important on their own, these moments were enriched by the people with which I was able to share them. Close friends, old friends, new friends, friends of friends (that are now our friends), that EMT that saved my life. Family. #ohana Were it not for the relationships, these amazing moments would not be the same, and I'm thankful for the scores of people I was able to share a moment with over these past 52 weeks.
It's at the intersection of relationships and moments where I find my last 12 months connecting with the next 12. Finally(!) home to do business in a marketplace full of people I know by name, who know me the same way and know the value I can provide, I look forward to intertwining more memorable moments into the relationships I have and those I continue to build.
Talking every day with people you know and like is not "work."
If we're already friends, let's figure out where next we'll make a moment together. If we don't know each other like that yet, let me know where you're making memories and I'll join you there!
