Hey, this is Kirby Hasseman with the Monday Minute.
Speaker and author Simon Sinek tells a great story about goals.
You see, he and his friend just run a race in Central Park. They had finished the run and a local sponsor had a table where they were giving away "free bagels." As is often the case after a race like that, there were lots of people around. And there was a big gathering around the table that was giving away the Free Bags.
Sinek wanted to get a bagel and he said, "Look! Free Bagels." But his friend said, "Yeah...but look at that line."
Frustrated, Sinek said, "Yeah...but Free Bagels." But his friend said, "Too many people! I don't want to wait."
Again...though Sinek persisted. "But there are Free Bagels!" The friend wanted no part of it. It was just too big a hassle.
This is a wonderful metaphor for goals. So many people would love to improve in some way in their life. They would like to sell more, learn more, or improve their fitness. They have the goal...but they can only see the line. It looks like a lot of hassle.
Other people get hyper-focused on what they want...and they don't worry about the obstacles.
The question on this Monday is simple. Do you see the line...or do you see the Free Bagels? My hope for you is that you keep your eyes on the prize.
Thanks so much for watching the Monday Minute!
