Push Out the Good

If you push out good (eventually) good will come back your way.

Hey this is Kirby Hasseman for the Monday Minute.

Several years ago I read a study that says that 89% of what we see in the world we see is negative.  So whether you are watching the news, seeing people in person, or spending time on social media, nearly 90% of what we were seeing was negative.  And that was BEFORE Covid, murder hornets, racial injustice and an election year.  I can confidently say that right now…90% seems low.

So what does that mean?  To me it means that, if we are intentional, we have a real chance to stand out.  The old adage is still true.  If you push out good (eventually) good will come back your way.  Recently, I did a Monday Minute about not letting negative people “rent space in your brain.”  The message resonated with several people, including Sean Lee from Sanmar.  He explained why that message hit home and was so moved he decided to send me this sweet Nike Shirt to show his appreciation.  What an amazing gift!

The message here is pretty simple.  The world is going to do what it’s going to do.  The majority of what we see will be negative.  But if you are intentional about pushing out good in the world, it will come back.  And because most people are negative…being positive helps to make you stand out.  It’s a competitive advantage…and that matters.

And maybe more importantly, when you push out good over and over again…you never know who you might be able to affect in a positive way.  So on this Monday…let me encourage you to push out good into the world…you might do some good in the process.

Thanks for watching.  We will see you next time on the Monday Minute.
