Text Version:
Hey this is Kirby Hasseman with the Monday Minute.
Let me paint you a picture. You are meeting someone that you have committed to work with to help them grow. At this get together over coffee, they start to explain why they have not been able to complete the tasks the two of you have set out for them. You patiently listen as they tell you that âthere are not enough hours in the dayâ or âthey donât have the moneyâ or their âteam wonât get on board.â
What do you tell them?
If you are being honest with them, you look them in the eye and say âItâs your fault.â You wonât want to say it. And they for sure will not want to hear it. But that doesnât make it less true.
The fact is, if you want to lead a successful life, you need to take responsibility for everything. You need to look in the mirror and at your own decisionsâŠand own it. There is nearly always something you could have done. This is not being a martyr. Quite the opposite. In every situation, you could have done something differentlyâŠso you have a chance to learn and grow.
Will there be things that are out of your controlâŠsure. But when you donât look to take responsibility for everything you enter the life of a victim. And that is no place to grow. Donât have enough time? Stop watching TV. Get up earlierâŠwhatever. But itâs a choiceâŠand itâs yours to make. At the end of the day, itâs time to own your current situation.
If you doâŠyou have the ability to change your life. If you donâtâŠyou donât.
