It’s February and that means we have 11 months left to finish the year strong!
It’s time to take action. We’re back from PPAI Expo and we’ve allowed our bodies to adjust back to normal life after the insanity of a week in Vegas. We’ve seen new products, networked with new and old friends and learned from the education seminars - it is now time to implement!
Before we dive-in, let’s do a recap of some of the highlights from PPAI Expo this year:
- New Products: OrigAudio’s line is game changing, but even more than that I’m pumped on finding Tokens & Icons and how they take classic sports memorabilia and turn them into high-end gifts.
- Lessons from Kirby Hasseman’s session about productivity: One thing I learned was that we sleep in 90 minute cycles. So, if you are going to hit snooze in the morning when your alarm goes off you better be prepared to sleep for another 90 minutes otherwise your body won’t be getting the full next cycle of sleep … and that is why you drag for the rest of the day.
- Charley Johnson’s Meditation Techniques: I sat down with Charley to record a podcast about branding and marketing and how meditation can help you be more productive in your life (and career). I just happened to have been getting into meditating prior to recording with him; however within a week of being back home I signed up for a Transcendental Meditation course and could not be more excited about this upcoming journey! Will share the link to this podcast soon.
- Speaking at SkuCon was such an awesome experience and motivated me to get into public speaking.
OK, so in the past couple blog posts I’ve covered goal-setting and working with virtual assistants (VA's) amongst other productivity tips. Here’s a link to the most recent post on how-to set your goals. Whatever your goal is; the key is to have it written down, at least read it weekly and start to do monthly check-ins. Personally, I possibly have too many goals - only time will tell. Today though, I’m holding myself accountable. I decided recently that I’m going to get into public speaking and my first topic will be working with VA's.
Currently, I’m working with a VA to help build out the outline of a how-to guide as it relates to getting started in working with VA’s. From there, that VA will be working with another VA to do the design and content of the ebook. Like what I did there?
So, while I have my content marketing goals, my sales goals, my personal goals - now I’m bringing in this new project - am I crazy? It’s a good possibility. But, here’s the thing. This ebook about working with VA’s is going to be something that not only will help propel my career in being a thought leader, speaker, lead magnet tool, etc… it’ll actually help me to learn how to work with VA’s better.
When was the last time you shared something that others felt you have a lot of knowledge? How did you go about sharing this knowledge? Did you notice that when teaching you actually hone your skills further?
My challenge for you this month is to find one thing you can teach (maybe even mentor) to another to:
- pass on the knowledge
- actually further your personal development in the process
Come back next month as I’ll share the how-to ebook in getting started with Virtual Assistants.
Swag On!
