Meet Gregg Emmer!

8/11/2016 | Gregg Emmer, Meet the Author Series

If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else, who would you pick and what would you do?

I’ve already overthought this question! It is so complicated. Will I still know who I really am and simply gain access to the other person’s persona as if wearing a costume? Would it be a complete exchange with me becoming someone else with their thoughts and experiences and no recollection of who I was? Or would I have all that AND know who I am but in another’s body? If a historical person will that require time travel? Could I simply choose a younger version of me but retain the knowledge of all the bad choices and other mistakes I made? What about changing back? And finally would that other person know I was in their body? And for all of you snickering and making jokes – I already thought of all of them!

What makes you mad? Happy?

Kids make me happy, so do long rides on my motorcycle (or shorter ones on the bicycle). Vacations, good friends, a great relationship and my favorite bourbon all are on the happy list. Finding amazing antiques and warm weather are there too. What makes me mad is simple stupidity! That covers a lot of ground from customers to politicians, and media “talking heads” to entertainers – and don’t forget athletes!

What is your favorite sound? Least favorite?

My favorite sound is laughter and especially little kids laughing. There is no sound more honest or that feels so good to hear. My least favorite is the same kids crying! But one of the most satisfying sounds is the silence when the person I’ve been arguing with realizes I’m right!

If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

I imagine eavesdropping on God talking to the clouds and hearing the clouds ask looking down on the earth, “Look at that one – it’s shaped like an idiot.”
