Ways to Attract Business in Today’s Economy!

This post is prompted by a recent request in a Facebook group for promotional products professionals. A distributor asked others to share their best marketing practices and start a new thread with ideas.

We all know that the promotional products industry is highly competitive, and we all have access to the same or similar products. How can you make your company be the vendor of choice and attract business with the best marketing practices that are working now?   

Here are three best practices:   

1. Using Social Media: The best way to market promotional products using social media, I believe, is to share ideas and success stories on how the products are used. Instead of just posting product images and items on special, post a success story or a video using that product. If you don't have a story of your own, ask your favorite supplier to share a success story with you. These days many suppliers have fun videos or marketing materials you can readily share. Clients and prospects relate to case histories and like to emulate what has worked for others. 

2.  On Your Website: Showcase why someone should buy from your company rather than your competitors. Tell your brand story and what makes your company unique. Dig deep to share what you do just a little bit better, or differently than your competitors. Let people know that you’re a real person, share photos and videos. Have a page on your website with case histories for different industries and challenges. Start with a problem or challenge a client was having and show how using a promotional product helped to alleviate that problem, attract business or build brand awareness.

3. In Your Community: I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “people buy from others they know, like and trust.”  Whether you are new to promotional product sales or seasoned professional being involved in your community attracts business. Find a cause you feel passionate about and get involved! You’ll feel great, and you’re sure to attract more business and referrals.
